I am a Southern California artist.  I have combined my great love of art with self study and art classes.  I generally work from photographs as my reference.  Painting is something I really enjoy doing with my teenager.  She is going to be a better artist than I will ever be.  Check out her pencil drawings.  Her sense of proportion and detail are exceptional.

 

 Ever since I started painting, I see everything in a new intense way.  Colors are crisper, shadows darker, faces more interesting.  My favorite medium is oil although I have experimented with all mediums including sculpture and pottery.

 

I am happiest and most at peace when I'm painting and find it a great stress reducer.  I get excited every time I see someone or something I want to paint.  I will never have the time to paint everything I am inspired to paint. I still work full time, but plan to retire in two years and open my own art gallery in central Kansas.  At that time, I plan to become involved in the Kansas art community.
